Areas of Practice:  Ed Farrell is a senior member of the family team He has exceptional experience and expertise in all aspects of child law, family property disputes following divorce, disputes between former cohabitees and international child and property law.

Ed also has considerable expertise in areas of general civil litigation and chancery law.

Ed is certified by the Bar Council as a Direct Access barrister with whom clients can arrange a one-off meeting for detailed guidance and advice about their case without having to instruct a solicitor beforehand. 

This can be an extremely useful service for clients who are deciding whether or not to bring or defend a case and, if they wish to fight it out, then how best to do so and the pitfalls to avoid. It is also a very helpful service for any persons who intend to bring or defend a case without lawyers to represent them. 
Ed is a graduate in law from the University of Leeds and has a Masters in law from Cambridge University. This included the study of ECHR human rights law. He also holds the postgraduate certificate in European law from King's College, London. Ed has practised at the Bar since 1982.

One of Ed's skills as counsel is his easy ability to communicate with all kinds of client and always with courtesy and a light touch.  

Ed has appeared in many reported cases in the High Court and the Court of Appeal. He has also appeared as an advocate in human rights litigation in Strasbourg.
