Jenny Kumeta

Jenny read law at Trinity College, Cambridge, before completing the Bar Vocational Course at Manchester Metropolitan University. Jenny was called to the Bar in October 2005 by the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple, having been awarded a Harmsworth Scholarship. She went on to complete pupillage and continue her practice at Exchange Chambers, Liverpool. She joined Cobden House in February 2007.

Jenny undertakes work in all aspects of family law including public and private child law, matrimonial finance and cohabitation cases. Jenny’s experience in the criminal field assists her in dealing with domestic injunctions. Jenny regularly appears in the county court and the family proceedings court, and has been successful on appeal to the High Court.

Jenny’s criminal practice involves prosecuting and defending in the crown and magistrates’ courts and her experience spans from benefit fraud to drugs cases to driving matters. Jenny also undertakes work in the field of licensing.

Jenny regularly appears in the county court to deal with personal injury cases and can provide advice on general damages in cases involving injured adults and children.

Jenny is a member of the Family Law Bar Association and the Bar Pro Bono Unit. Each year she also assists with the National Schools’ Bar Mock Trial Competition.

Jenny’s interests include tennis, surfing, skiing, speaking Spanish and contemporary dance.
