Yasmin Wright was called to the Bar in 1990 and is a well respected member of the Family Team.

Yasmin has practiced in Personal Injury and Employment Law producing reported cases in both areas.

Yasmin set the standards applicable in bumping/transferred redundancy cases in the ground breaking case of Brian Church v Lancashire National Health Service Trust 1997 ILR. She continues to practice in all areas of personal injury work. Her turn around for paperwork is most impressive, delivering pleadings, advices on liability and quantum within two days, even with a busy practice! In the area of personal injury Yasmin challenged local authority immunity who wrongfully took an infant into foster care, when they knew or ought to have known, that the infant was suffering from brittle bone disease thereby failing to keep the family together under Article 8 and Children's Act 1989 causing the mother to suffer post traumatic psychological shock and upset.The case of Annette Deane v Bury MBC 2000 reached the European Court of Human Rights.

Yasmin also specialises in all area of Family Law, with a particular emphasis on honour killing and baby shaking cases. She took the main role in representing a persecuted mother in the reported High Court Honour Killing case of Z v A (2006) 1 FLR 286 before Mrs Justice Black and was commended for her diligence and meticulous preparation in this sensitive high profile case.

Yasmin has also appeared in the high profile Queens Proctor cases involving sham marriages in the High Court and child abduction cases.

Yasmin’s degree of expertise also stretches to Immigration Law including the right to abode and citizenship, business admissions and the self-employed, family and marriage, asylum and deportation and human rights including Judicial Review appeals.

Yasmin has practiced in Immigration Law for 16 years and finds the mix between Family Law and Immigration Law intellectually challenging and can make valuable contributions to Immigration seminars for solicitors, held within Chambers.
