The Chancery Department practice exclusively in the area of Chancery and commercially related work.

The members of the department combine expertise in traditional areas of Chancery work with expertise in modern Chancery practice and related commercial fields. We retain expertise in the fields of trusts, probate, wills and non-contentious drafting generally. We also provide expertise insolvency, property law, security interests, family provision, professional negligence, private client taxation and commercial litigation generally.

All aspects of landlord and tenant are a particular speciality in terms of litigation, members of the department appear in all levels of tribunals, from the Rent Assessment committee to the House of Lords.

For intellectual property, we deal with passing-off, breach of confidence,

computer related law and all other aspects of intellectual property.

We realise that it is desirable to specialise within particular areas and the clerk will be happy to advise solicitors of individual specialisations. Members of the department endeavour to offer accurate analysis of the law coupled with practical advice. We have excellent library facilities, both paper and electronic.

The geographical spread of our practice is not limited to the North West of England, but extends throughout Northern England, Wales, the Midlands and beyond. In appropriate cases members of the department are happy to attend conferences in solicitors' offices.
