Rebecca Hirst

Rebecca Hirst was called to the bar in 1999 and has practised as a barrister ever since. She has always practiced as a criminal barrister and has also practiced in immigration law.

She deals with all aspects of criminal law for both the prosecution and the defence including regulatory law, road traffic offences and licensing matters.  

Regulatory law

She also has experience conducting proceedings for regulatory offences. This experience began with her appointment onto the Attorney General’s list of prosecutors in 2006 and has expanded into defence work. Her experience includes the following areas:

Prosecutions brought by BIS (Business, Innovations and Skills (formerly known as the DTI)). These prosecutions involve offences committed by companies and bankrupt individuals.


Prosecutions brought by the Health and Safety Executive and the Office of Rail Regulators against both individuals and companies.

Department of Works and Pensions prosecutions

Environmental Agency prosecutions

 

Licensing law

She also deals with all areas of licensing law including liquor licensing, gambling, shotgun licences, security industry licences and taxi licenses and has experience in advisory and court work.

Appeals

She has conducted a variety of appeals from in the Court of Appeal, Crown Court and Magistrates Court.
