The Housing Department is able to offer a wide range of advisory and advocacy expertise to individuals, public and private bodies, local authorities, other registered social landlords, trusts, long leaseholders, council and housing association tenants and the homeless.



The Department has a particular emphasis on possession cases, anti¬social behaviour, claims arising from unfit housing, mortgages, right to buy and acquire, human rights and discrimination. Individual members undertake judicial review proceedings relating to the decisions of public authorities encompassing welfare benefits, homelessness and allocation, possession and right to buy.

The Clerks will be happy to advise solicitors of individual specialisation. Members of the Department endeavour to offer accurate analysis of the law coupled with practical advice. We have excellent library facilities, both paper and electronic.

The Department provides teaching services on a regular basis and conducts in-house training for both solicitors' in private and public authorities.
