John was called to the bar in 2016 but prior to that he had extensive experience as a Crown Court Advocate, obtaining his higher rights in 2007, and having practiced almost exclusively in the Crown Court since then. He has represented defendants in Crown Court trials for over 10 years in serious criminal cases. He has experience of all types of crime including sexual offences, robberies, wounding and arson with intent to endanger life.

John regularly deals with privately paid Road Traffic cases in the magistrates court including trials and exceptional hardship arguments.

John also has experience of prosecuting cases and is a level 3 prosecutor representing the Crown Prosecution service on a regular basis in both trials and sentencing hearings.

John qualified as a solicitor in 1982 and has specialised in criminal law since then. He has extensive experience of police station and magistrates court work as well as Crown Court advocacy. 

His interests include walking, racket sports and casual guitar playing.
