      John was called to the bar in 2016 but prior to that had extensive experience as a Crown Court Solicitor advocate having obtained his Higher Rights in 2007. Throughout that period he has represented defendants charged with a range of serious criminal offences such as section 18 wounding, robbery, rape and arson with intent to endanger life. 

      John qualified as a solicitor in 1982 and since that date has specialised in criminal law. He has therefore experience in all criminal courts and police station work. 

      Since 2007, however, he has practised exclusively as a Crown Court advocate appearing in numerous trials. He has appeared regularly in Crown Courts in Manchester and throughout the North of England dealing with all aspects of general crime.

      His interests include walking, racket sports and casual guitar playing.
