Profile


Ian is undertaking his pupillage in Business and Property and Housing which started in September 2023. His supervisor is Gary Lewis.

During his pupillage so far, Ian has observed a wide variety of cases in the County Court, High Court, and the First Tier Property Tribunal. These have included observing commercial and residential possession, contractual disputes, housing disrepair, antisocial behaviour injunctions, HMO licencing, succession claims, TOLATA, director’s disqualifications and Inheritance Act claims. Ian has also undertaken marshalling with various judges.

Prior to pupillage, Ian worked as a County Court Advocate, attending circa 1500 hearings covering a wide variety of cases including small claims, landlord and tenant matters, bankruptcies and consumer credit claims.

In his spare time, Ian is a UEFA C licenced football coach managing both under 11s and under 17s and Head of Discipline at Chadderton Park Football Club.

  • Law (LLB Hons) (Manchester Metropolitan University) 2:1.
  • LLM International Business Law (University of Leeds) Pass with distinction.
  • BPTC (Manchester Metropolitan University) Very Competent.
  • Inner Temple BPTC Major Exhibition Scholarship Award.
  • Inner Temple Duke of Edinburgh Entrance Award.
  • Leeds Masters Scholarship.
