Cobden House Criminal Department are unanimous in our support of the escalation of ongoing action. From Monday, we will not be accepting new instructions in legally aided cases, we will not be covering cases in which other members of the Bar are already instructed (returns) and we will be participating in “days of action” on those dates proposed by the Criminal Bar Association. It is not a decision that we have taken lightly. Indeed, it is one that we have taken with heavy hearts, and only because we take the view that it is necessary to achieve proper remuneration for the work that we do and thereby safeguard the future of the Criminal Justice System.
All members of Chambers involved will be following the guidance published by the Criminal Bar Association on 20th June 2022. Cobden House Chambers supports Cobden House Criminal Department in this matter.
