Steven Tobias

Steven joined Chambers in March 2005, having previously spent two years at St John’s Buildings. He initially clerked the Civil and Family teams before being appointed Senior Civil Clerk and Deputy Director of Clerking in December 2020.

In his role as Senior Civil Clerk and Deputy Director of Clerking, Steven oversees the Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence clerking team, ensuring the effective day-to-day management of the department. He is also responsible for driving the department’s overall business development strategy, building and strengthening relationships with solicitors and clients, identifying new opportunities for growth and ensuring Chambers continues to develop its profile and presence within the legal market.

Outside work, Steven spends much of his time chasing after his two children! He is also an avid Manchester United supporter and a keen runner. In 2018, he completed the London Marathon, raising over £2,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support. His next challenge is tackling the 2027 London Marathon.

Steven is also actively involved in organising fundraising events for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY), in memory of a close friend who sadly passed away in 2012. Alongside a dedicated committee of family and friends, they have raised over £100,000 to date, helping to provide heart screenings for young people aged 16–35 in the local community.
