Barrie Searle practised from St James Chambers, Quay Street Manchester from 1976 to 2015 and specialised in family law, dealing in particular with ancillary relief and Children Act work. 

He also specialised in personal injury, with a specific emphasis on cases involving psychiatric injury. He retired from practice in March 2015, but continues to sit as a Recorder and Legal Assessor/Legal Adviser.

Barrie has a longstanding interest in photography and photo-journalism. He has undertaken ten charity bike rides in Israel, Spain, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Madagascar, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and South Africa for the special needs charity, Norwood and has raised over £70,000 for that great cause.  He also enjoys the cinema, theatre and his family.
