Ian Bond

Ian completed his pupillage under the supervision of Gary Lewis and joined the Business and Property and Housing team in September 2024. Ian is available to undertake a wide variety of advocacy work inside and outside of housing litigation, including applications relating to possession, trespass, disrepair, anti-social behaviour injunctions, and committals. Ian represents clients in trials on the small claims, fast, intermediate, and multi-track. Ian has appeared in the Insolvency and Companies Court, on County Court appeals, and has appeared on appeal in the High Court. Ian has been praised for his professionalism and attention to detail, with his cross examination and submissions described as a masterclass.

Ian continues to build a wide-ranging paper practice, drafting particulars of claims, defences, and providing advice in housing-related matters including disrepair, possession, and anti-social behaviour. Ian also deals with claims for misrepresentation and under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, contractual disputes, boundary disputes, negligence and private nuisance, proprietary and promissory estoppel, wills and probate, and insolvency matters.

Ian undertakes work for both claimants and defendants and is happy to advise on an informal basis. Prior to joining Chambers, Ian was a freelance County Court Advocate, undertaking circa. 1,500 hearings during this time covering a wide variety of cases including small claims, landlord and tenant, bankruptcies and consumer credit claims.

Ian is a member of the Northern Business and Property Bar Association and the Social Housing Law Association.
